Music at the Centre
The Importance of Music
The presence of music at the centre is essential, as it plays a transformative role in shaping minds especially young minds.
Research consistently shows that music stimulates brain development, enhancing cognitive skills such as memory, attention, and problem-solving. It strengthens neural connections, particularly in areas related to language, math, and spatial reasoning, making it a powerful tool for academic growth.
Music also fosters creativity and emotional expression, helping us develop a sense of discipline, focus, and collaboration when engaging in group performances or learning an instrument.
Choir
Joining a choir at any age offers a range of benefits that extend beyond just musical skills. Singing in a group fosters a sense of community and belonging, creating opportunities for social connection and collaboration. It also enhances cognitive abilities, improving memory, concentration, and listening skills. For children, it builds confidence and emotional expression, while for adults, it provides a sense of fulfillment, stress relief, and a break from daily routines. Additionally, singing together promotes physical health by improving lung capacity and breath control. Whether for personal growth or social enjoyment, choir participation is a rewarding experience that nurtures both the mind and spirit.
Junior choir will take place Thursday 11 – 12pm, with senior choir from 1:30 – 2:30pm. Music theory for 11+ from 2:30pm
